Lighthouse Elopement: Britta & Sebastian

Britta and Sebastien were one of the most laid-back couples we have ever worked with!

Being keen sailors and having sailed past our lighthouse on their trips to Ærø, it was the natural choice of venue for their ceremony. With its raw "Nordic mood", the lighthouse wedding is the quintessential elopement.

When it came to making the flower crown and flowers for the wedding day Louise had a completely free hand. Avoiding bright colours, she went instead for a boho vibe to match Britta’s dress. Hops from the garden were at their most spectacular, so they were added to give some danglyness ;-)

Britta and Sebastian’s dog, Nasty, was in an adventurous mood (like its owners), and had no problem climbing the many stairs to the top of the lighthouse.

The top exterior walkway being circular, we can always find a sheltered side, and the sea turned up all its blues and greens for the couple.

Britta and Sebastian finished the day in style with a supboard sunset shoot with Neli (and, of course, Nasty) Enjoy! :-)

From the couple:

“We met in September 2010 in Maria-Hilf Hospital in Krefeld, Germany. Sebastian worked as accidental surgeon and I started with visceral surgery.

About October/November 2011 we became a couple (and funnily did not tell anyone at work to prevent rumours, but it did not take long and everybody knew anyway ;-) )

In September 2012 we moved together to Cologne (Köln), Sebastian grew up here, and bought our own flat in May 2015 (see documents) in Köln-Sülz where we are living since. The flat is a perfect combination for both of us: Quite in touch with the center but just a few meters away from the next green park. So city and a little bit of countryside combined, as Britta is from a small city, called Lüdinghausen.

We love to ski in the winter times and sailing in the summer time. Both of us have sailing licences, as we are often sailing on our own (or dog Nasty does not know how to make knots so far). The Dansk “south sea” is one of our most favourite sailing regions, so it seems to be the right decision to marry  on Aero for us – just the two of us, as we are usually on a sailing boat, too (+ Nasty ;-)).

Britta is probably the one with an animal – passion. So Sebastian tolerated my wish to have ferrets – this must be love :-)- in 2015 in our flat. Three years ago I gave up visceral surgery and switched to pathology, meaning that there was suddenly enough time for dog. As a result and a after a gentle struggle for two weeks Anastasia “Nasty”, an Shepard-mix-lady from Bulgaria,  joined our little crazy animal-flat share. Today Sebastian gives her even more snacks than I do ;-).

Sebastian is the cook of us and he is brilliant, despite he would never say so himself. I usually come up with take away food, if it is my time to cook. Both of us are quite untidy, so we are very happy to have a housekeeper, meaning every Sunday evening we panically start to tidy up for our housekeeper, so that she has no cleaning problem ;-). Since Nasty is with us we started tracking in a near hilly region called “Eifel” and I am always glad when I see the eyes of my male city-kid Sebastian start to sparkle while exploring some caves or finding mushrooms with me.

All in all I would say we are equal enough that we think we can manage a hole life together and different enough, so that it never gets boring.
