Inspiration Board: Winter Wedding In Denmark

While summer is definintely the most popular time of year to get married, we know from experience that there are also lots of couples out there who dream of a romantic winter wedding. The quiet season offers a very special kind of intimacy for an elopement or small party. And while we live in a country where we cannot guarantee snow, statistically the month of February would be your best bet for a snow or frost covered island landscape.

The quaint colourful houses and cobbled stone streets of our beautiful historic town, Ærøskøbing, also look just as charming covered in a dusting of snow as it does in summer covered in roses and hollyhocks.

A winter wedding is not the same thing as a Christmas wedding (although it can be if you so desire) so below we have created a little inspiration board for a wedding more focused on nature/seasonal features than on holiday mood. Thus there is no red and green. Rather we have taken inspiration from the pale neutrals of the snowy landscape and dried seed heads of the tall grasses that line the coast of the island, the metallic shimmer of frost covered window panes, the first Ranunculus flowers for a bouquet and tiny berries and winter blooms for an understated but charming winter flower crown. We will definitely be experimenting more and more with dried flowers, particularly the stunning luminiscent Lunaria seedheads, for winter weddings in the future.
